As a valued Boost Mobile customer, we want to provide you an update on our 2012 Nextel Network projects and reassure you of our continuous commitment to delivering best in class service.

Together Boost Mobile and Sprint continue to make progress towards their strategic Network Vision plan to consolidate multiple network technologies into one seamless network with the goal of enhancing CDMA network coverage, call quality and data speeds for customers across the United States.

To prepare for our eventual network consolidation and to improve operational efficiency, Boost Mobile plans to reduce and optimize select Nextel cellular towers throughout the country. We want to proactively notify you of our actions and how they may impact Boost Mobile customers on iDEN series devices on the Nextel National Network.

  • The cell towers targeted for decommissioning are "excess capacity" cell sites added years ago to accommodate a much larger iDEN user base on the Nextel National Network.
  • These towers were carefully selected and are neither necessary to support the overall wireless experience on the Nextel National Network, nor are they critical to support potential disaster recovery efforts.
  • Street and outdoor coverage are not expected to be impacted. In-building coverage may be impacted.
  • Tower retuning/optimization work is expected to begin in late April 2012 and is expected to be complete in July 2012.
  • In 2012, these activities will NOT shutdown the Nextel National Network.
  • The Nextel National Network overall service coverage footprint is NOT expected to change, even with the planned reductions, as Boost Mobile and Sprint will jointly optimize remaining towers to cover impacted areas.
  • Boost Mobile CDMA coverage also will not change due to the actions to the Nextel National Network discussed above.

Rest assured, our network can still support nationwide Nextel service with the removal of excess capacity towers.
